A certain time and a secret place, where you can guard yourself against the madness around you. This is the feeling of comfort described by André Flemming when asked about the significance of the band’s name. He draws comparisons between the healing power of music in action, brought to life in his relaxed but potent guitar-driven sounds in the two-piece band, and what one may experience as an inpatient in a hospital bed, looking towards better days from out the window.

This Berlin-based psychedelic-infused, no-nonsense rock’n’roll band takes their cues from earlier days in music when there wasn’t a need to promote anything other than raw emotion. This is evident in André´s rendition of Nirvana´s Gen-X anthem, “Come As You Are”, conjuring up familiar feelings of sincerity and authenticity.

Stationär Doing its best.

Serving as two halves of a whole, André, along with drummer Rui Caldeira, has kept busy with Stationär since its beginnings in 2018. The band, though relaxed in spirit, have taken their business to heart, having been hard at work and averaging a record a year. This, along with the festivals and weekend shows around Berlin, is what really keeps their momentum going. For 2021, they’re aiming their sights towards a fully independent production of a third record.

Spider Acoustics in Action.

The soundscapes will inevitably adapt and refine themselves over, hints guitarist André, having experimented most recently with the psychedelic tones in their songwriting. Keeping in line with the DIY, rock’n’roll spirit, expect Stationär to offer their best for the upcoming year, marked by the unrelenting rollercoaster ride that has been 2020, no doubt.
